Project Description
This beautiful project involved selecting an unusually wide seasoned Oak for use in creating the new Oak framed structure that was patterned on a Jacobean form of Arcading seen at Chilham Castle in Kent.
The Challenge
This exacting project required finding suitable lengths and widths by selecting from well-seasoned stock and sometimes only being able to use one plank from a log. Whippletree also assisted the main contractor in machining the particularly wide sections to yield a true and uniform blank ready for shaping and carving.
The Results
The results were that the impressive new playhouse won the Wood Awards 2014 in the commercial & Public Areas Category through the excellent work of the main contractor and their associates and knowledge of where to source the right materials.
