Dojima Sake Brewery

Project Description

The Fordham Abbey site has history back to Henry III’s reign in the 13thcentury. Over the centuries, various grand houses have been built, altered and rebuilt on the land where the original GilbertineAbbey was originally founded. Today a red brick Georgian country house stands on the 75 acre estate. A few years ago, the Japanese Dojima sake brewery bought the estate and have developed the first Dojimasake brewery in the UK.

The Challenge

Part of the design brief was to have internal and external visitor areas, some at first floor height, with a natural oak structural and visual theme running through.

The Results

Through careful selection of naturally seasoned decking boards and stair treads, structural oak and engineered flooring, coupled with expert installation by the main contractor, a modern, long lasting and practical visitor centre was completed.
